On behalf of the Burlington Firefighters Pipes and Drums I would ask that you consider the following:

  

The Burlington Firefighters Pipes and Drums are calling for a “Request for interest”.  That is, we are recruiting for membership!  We are open to all emergency service workers.

 

The band is accepting students for the Great Highland Bagpipe and the Pipe Band Drum.  Both are taught to you by highly qualified, in house instructors, free of charge. The intent of our tuition is that you will want to play in the band.  You will be taught in a classroom setting and progress to the band level when you and the instructors feel confident of your abilities. Musical experience is an asset however not a must. We will work with all students at their speed.

  

The only financial obligation in this is to have instructor approved learning instruments. For bagpipes, a “MacCallum” Long Practice Chanter @ approx. $90 and for drums, a “Cameron medium” practice pad and “Jim Kilpatrick” sticks @ approx. $60.  We can purchase these for you and might receive discounted pricing for multiple orders. All learning aids are supplied.

 

We are planning an information meeting on Thursday March 3, 2016 @ 1900 hours at Stn. 1 in the classroom.

 

In closing, this is an opportunity to do something unique, and to give back to our community and fellow emergency responders. It is little known and not publicized, the band performs for, and contributes to numerous local charities as well. I hope to see you on the 3rd and we will answer any questions and lay out the format.
